Grant “Pete” Toney, 87, of Harts, departed this life on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Logan Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 28, 1930 in Leet, WV a son of the late John and Murtha Toney.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Toney; one great- granddaughter, Melody Christian; three sisters, Viola Hughes, Willia Adkins, Reabel Toney; and seven brothers, Millard, Blutcher, Sidney, Bill, Lawerence, John, and Keenan.

Pete was an avid hunter, he enjoyed spending time with children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed telling stories of the old days.

Those left to cherish his memory include five daughters, Linda Gail Neal, Debra Ann Skeens, Dale Elaine (Keister) Christian, Nancy Jane (Rick) Norman, and Christy Lynn (Brian) Stowers; three sons, Gary Grant Toney, Millard “Mousie” (Sebrina) Toney, and Terry Lee Toney; fourteen grandchildren, Mandy, Austin, Alec, Ciera, Crystal, Blake, Chalisse, Casey, Michelle, Carson, Cadie, Linda, Justin, and Grant; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Freeman Funeral Home with Jimmy Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Toney Family Cemetery in Harts, WV.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Carson Toney, Doug Skeens, Rex Toney, Justin Norman, Grant Maynard, and Alec Stowers.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
