Ethel Janet Vance, of Harts, WV, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 28, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born on October 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Lizzie Browning. Janet worked for 33 years with the Lincoln County Board of Education. She loved Christmas, her family, and get-togethers.
Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Bethel Vance; her sister, Doyle Midkiff-Adkins; her two brothers, Ola David Browning and Glen Browning; and a special brother-in-law, Jack Midkiff.
She is survived by her two children, Bethel Todd (Deborah) Vance and Elizabeth Michelle (David) Ferrell; her grandchildren, Bethany (Keith) Watkins, Levi Ferrell, Lexi (Nick) Robinson, Lynlee Lambert, and Hunter Browning; and her three great-grandchildren, Jedidiah Ferrell, Willadean Ferrell, and Kaleb Watkins. She is also survived by two special nephews, Brian Browning and Darren Browning.
A graveside service will be held on June 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens, with Shawn Porter officiating.
Though she is no longer with us, her love remains forever in our hearts.
