Ernest "Smitty" Ray Smith

Ernest “Smitty” Smith, 64, of St, Albans, WV, departed this life on March 18, 2021 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV.

He was born August 19, 1956 in Charleston, WV, the son of the late Ernest Arnold Smith and Bonnie Virginia Silva Bays.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dean Silva.

Smitty enjoyed working on cars, working at Mike Ferrell Toyota & Scion. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson and teaching him about getting under cars and trying to fix them. He loved hot rods, and going to car shows in Charleston on the boulevard each year.

Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Kaitlyn & Keith Wittkorn, Meagan & James Bogner and Brianna & Chris Fournet; three sisters, Cindy Mattson, Ruth Broadnax and Mary Bays; one brother, Hal Ord; eight grandchildren, Christopher Maynard, Trinity Johnston, Gabriel Johnston, Laniegrace Johnston, Emma Bogner, Bryson Fournet, Keira Wittkorn and Adilin Wittkorn; and ex-wife and mother of his children, Mary-Elaine Smith; and his ex-wife, Sonia Marcum.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home with Richard McCallister officiating.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Freeman Funeral Home to help with arrangements.
