Ernest Robert Ulbrich, Sr, 80 of Hewett, WV, departed this life on September 21, 2024 at Mud River, WV.

He was born March 7, 1944 in Madison, WV the son of the late Otto Ulbrich and Eva Elizabeth (Price) Ulbrich.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Lee (Epling) Ulbrich, sisters, Arbedella (Ulbrich) Dillon, Macil Thompson and Sylvia Jeffrey, brothers, Harry Ulbrich and Carl Ulbrich and his father and mother-in-law, Archie Bert and Nancy Mildred (Fisher) Epling.

Ernest loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman, but what he loved doing the most was spending time with his grandkids. Ernest was a member of the Monclo Freewill Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Ernest Robert Ulbrich Jr of Chapmanville, daughters, Debbie Kay Ulbrich of Charleston, Melanie (Ulbrich) Goode of Charleston and Amanda (Timothy) Marcum of Mud River; brother, Gene (Linda) Ulbrich of Ottawa, WV; grandchildren, Christopher Cook of Fairmont, WV, Valerie (Ty) Pickett of Foster, WV, Nick (Jessica) Ulbrich of Fairmont, WV, Rachel Moore of Beckley, WV, Laef Marcum, Cambrie Marcum, Mia Marcum all of Mud River, Madelyn Goode of Charleston; great grandchildren, Oaklee Ulbrich, Reagan Moore, Axel Ulbrich and Remi Moore; and brother-in-law, Paul (Dianne) Epling.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Joe Lane officiating. Burial will follow at the Memory Gardens, Low Gap, WV.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Marcum, Christopher Cook, Nick Ulbrich, Laef Marcum and Daniel Ulbrich.
