Donald “Harold” Sansom, 89 of Cox's Fork, Danville, WV, departed this life on Monday, September 8, 2025, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV.

He was born March 26, 1936, in Turtle Creek, WV, the son of the late George and Alma Miller Sansom.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Jean Sansom; brothers, Johnny and Charles Sansom; and granddaughter, Chloe Bowen.

Harold was raised in Boone County, WV. He also made a home in Cleveland, OH, where he raised his children and tired from Tube Form in Bedford, OH. In later years he lived in North Carolina and Tennessee before moving back home to Boone County, WV. Harold was the name his parents gave at birth but due to error in birth certificates in 1936 he was legally named Donald. He always laughed that he was two different people. He loved to attend picking in the park at Chief Logan and listen to bluegrass music and dance the night away. He was at any family function and loved to cook and bring food to others. Harold was always willing to help anyone.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Gregory Sansom, Darlena (Bobby) Sansom Bowen, Diana Sansom Jurdivac and her spouse Robert. He was also the grandfather of 8 grandkids, children of Darlene; Amber, Shawn, Jessica, Kalia, and Justin; children of Diana; Brain, Ashley, and Zachary; as well as 13 great grandchildren. Harold was also survived by his brother Willard Sansom and sisters, Nillie Pritchard, Lenora Johnson, and Hattie Turner with a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Freeman Funeral Home.
