Donald Edward Chafin

Donald Edward Chafin, 71, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on June 1, 2022 at his residence.

He was born June 16, 1950 in Omar, WV, the son of the late Willard Donald and Mary Lou Chafin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willis & Maude Chafin and Walter & Nellie Spriggs, one brother, James Chafin and his father-in-law, James Elmer Wells.

Donald enjoyed spending time with his family riding his motorcycle, reading his bible, listening to gospel music while sitting on the front porch. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends reminiscing about the coal mines.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marlene Chafin of Chapmanville; two daughters, Krista Dawn & Rod Evans and Michelle Leigh & Gordon Tomblin both of Chapmanville; one son, Michael & Melissa Chafin of Chauncey, WV; three sisters, JoAnn Marcum, Mary & Forest Howard both of Manchester, IN and Jewel & Ward Gartin of Taylorsville, WV; one brother, Ronald Chafin of Delbarton, WV; seven grandchildren, Brooklyn Evans, Kayla Chafin, Ryan Chafin, Trace Chafin, Tanner Tomblin, Jacob Muenich and Arron Muenich; his mother-in-law, Ruby (Ison) Wells; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 12:00pm, Monday, June 6, 2022 at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Scotty Dingess officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Trace Chafin, Ryan Chafin, Tanner Tomblin, Robert Price and Gordon Tomblin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Chafin, Michael Chafin, Rod Evans and Dale Hensley.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
