He was a member and Deacon at New Life Freewill Baptist Church at Rossmore. Dewey loved to share his testimony and tell others how he was changed when he gave his life to the Lord. Any room that Dewey left was always guaranteed to be filled with laughter. Dewey was always the ultimate jokester. He was a graduate of Logan High School and West Virginia State University. Dewey was also an alumnus of Marshall University and an avid and dedicated fan of the Thundering Herd. He would often speak of his Alpha Sig Fraternity brothers and the bond formed that continued down through the years. He was actively involved in sports from playing to coaching. Following in the footsteps of his dad, he dedicated many years to the youth of Omar, coaching Little League for 33 years, and serving on the Omar Board as well as WV District 2 Little League Board. Dewey was a Basketball Official with the WVSSAC Tug Valley Board, refereeing boys’ and girls’ high school games for 20 years in many areas of the state. He would tell you the most enjoyment he had is supporting his children in sports and never missing a game they played, whatever sport it was, always willing to assist in any way that he could.
