Delbert "Gene" Eugene Bell

Delbert Eugene “Gene” Bell, 86, of Lake, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 30, 2022 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 11, 1936 in Hetzel, WV, the son of the late Delbert “Ding” Bell and Myrtle Bell.

Gene loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. Gene was a retired UMWA coal miner from Bethelem Steel. He was a Christian who loved the Lord and his church family. Gene was a member of Stevens Chapel Church at Lake, WV for 38 years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Carol Smith Bell; four children, Gene Allen Bell (Pam), Jane Anderson-Jude (Zane), Duane Bell (Terri) and Tara Sue Skeens (Scott); nine grandchildren, Andrew Bell (Trinity), Stephanie Richardson (Adam), Polly Scott (Byron), Jason Anderson (Amber), Phillip Anderson (Polly), Tanner Bell, Jagger Bell (Cassidy), Tori Dalton (Brock), and Gage Skeens; thirteen great grandchildren, Eli and Arya Ann Bell, Emma, Wyatt, Sawyer and Nova Leigh Richardson, Isabella Scott, Leland and Payson Anderson, Claire and Aubrey Anderson, Everly Bell and Berkleigh Dalton; one loving brother, Freddie Bell (Charlotte); and a host of extended family and friends.

If Gene had one thing left to say, he would say: Meet me in Heaven.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the Stevens Chapel Church at Lake, WV with Pastor Roger McCauley and Jeff Mosteller officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, Madison, WV.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jason, Phillip and Leland Anderson, Andrew Bell, Tanner Bell and Gage Skeens.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
