Daniel “JR” Bruce Johnson, Jr. died unexpectedly on March 12, 2025, at Logan Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was 52 years old. His family and friends are deeply saddened by his sudden death.

He was born April 1, 1972, in Logan, WV, the son of Linda Mae Johnson and the late Daniel Bruce Johnson, Sr.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Stacy Johnson; and his four-legged best friend, Max.

JR enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and traveling, Key West, Florida, was one of his favorite places to visit. He was known to be a giver- of his time, his resources and most of all, his love. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his siblings, Allen Johnson, Dreama (Ricky) Moore, Randy Johnson and Andy (Staci) Johnson; his nieces and nephews, Scotty Johnson, Marissa (Jonathan) Holcomb, Tiffany (Cameron) Toney, Danielle (Brady Roberts) Moore and Alex Johnson; his great niece and nephews, Nova Toney, Bentley Toney and Braxton Gillum; and his aunt, Kathi (Lehman) Eldridge.

JR's long career as a manager for Family Dollar and Dollar General rewarded him with many coworkers that turned into friends and family such as Kat Fowler, Patty Vance, Andrew and Kristin Bryant, Becky Runyan and many more.

A special thanks to Logan Regional Medical Center ICU department for their care and comfort during this time.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Freeman Funeral Home with Lehman Eldridge officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Garden, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
