Corey Donovan Murphy, 23 of Yolyn, WV, departed this life on August 30, 2025 in Jennie's Creek, WV after a tragic accident.

He was born December 11, 2001 in Logan, WV the son of Donald Murphy, Marie Murphy and Joe Marcum.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Diana Perkins, grandfather, Lauren Hall and great grandmother, Siri Williamson.

Corey enjoyed fishing, riding, basketball, golfing and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his meow-meow and Pete Pete and being a mechanic on anything and everything.

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kailey Murphy; grandparents, Ronnie Perkins of Kermit, Papaw Rat of Breeden, Melanie Williamson of Mudfork and Sandra Patterson of Logan; two sisters, Lyric Murphy, and Neaveh Garland; two brothers, Devon Murphy and Braxy Marcum; sister-in-law, Kristen (Nathan) Tomblin; brother-in-law, Cody (Ariel) Mullins; nephews, Julian, Remington, Walker, Keastin, Adrian and Kaison; nieces, Indy, Emma and Honey; his aunts and uncles, Belinda (Andy) Booth, BJ Marcum, Ron Jr Perkins, Josh Marcum, Kenny Marcum, Tommy Lee Booth and Colecillia Perkins; father and mother-in-law, Kevin and Tina Grimmett; his close friends and family, Aaron D. Marcum, Aaron J. Marcum, Arionna Brewer, Andin Booth, Zaden Booth, Deric Gibson, the Varney Family, his coal mining family, Diana (Matt) Jones, Justin (Kristin) Cooper, Austin (Tyler) Baisden, Zach (Destiney) Hatfield, Micky (Tabitha) Cook, Christian (Josie) Evans, Corey (Kelsey) Marcum; Corey had a lot of in-laws that loved him dearly, Larry & Diane Mullins, Sherry & Doodle Wellman, Billy & Donna Grimmett, Dough & Jessica Vance, Brittney Morris, JD & Carissa Morris, Gavin Vance, Peyton Morris, Vicky & Aaron Browning, Kyle & Sarah Rayser, Mary Farmer, and Daniel & Rachelle Craddock, and many more.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Freeman Funeral Home with Greg Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Lewis Marcum, Canaan Varney, Christian Beseler, Thomas Booth, Justin Cooper, Tyler Copley, Cody Mullins, Devon Murphy, Nathan Tomblin, Kyle Ellis, Austin Baisden, Gavin Vance and CJ Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mikey Cook, Zach Hatfield, Christian Evans, Kevin Grimmett, Joe Marcum and Andy Booth.
