Connie Sue Bush Obituary
Connie Sue Bush, born September 17, 1947, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 8, 2025, surrounded by love at Women and Children’s Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Connie’s legacy is one of unwavering love, boundless faith, and joyful service to others.
Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Arlie Bush Sr., her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. She is also reunited in Heaven with her parents, Everett and Alberta Evans; her brothers Fredrick, Harold Lee, and Gary; and her sisters Bonnie Lou and Iva.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Melanie Bush Lawson (Bruce) of Pittsburgh and Arlie Bush Jr. (Tiffany) of Chapmanville; her grandchildren: Caleb Lawson (Kailee) of Pittsburgh, Alyx Toppins (Trenton) of Logan, Emma Bush (Bailey Hager) of Chapmanville, and Caden Robinson and Chloe Robinson of Chapmanville; and her great-granddaughters: Harlie Royce Morrison and Stevie Nicole Toppins. She also leaves behind her cherished siblings: Candy Patterson Brewer, Tammie Evans, and Ralph Evans — along with several granddogs who brought her joy and companionship.
Connie spent many years as a stay-at-home mother, raising her children in a home filled with warmth, kindness, and unconditional love. Her home was always beautiful and welcoming, just like her spirit. Later, she worked for Robert Adkins, DDS, and Family Discount Pharmacy, but her favorite role was being “Mamaw” to not only her grandchildren but to the many children at Chapmanville schools. She was known as the Tigers’ biggest fan and had a gift for making every child feel seen and loved.
She shared a very special friendship with Brad Napier, and together they created many cherished memories, often enjoying their mutual love of basketball. Their bond was a blessing to them both and a testament to the joy found in true friendship.
Above all, Connie lived her life for Christ. Her greatest desire was to make it to Heaven and bring as many as she could along with her. She was a proud member of Garrett Chapel, where she shared her faith freely and with great joy. Her light and testimony touched countless lives.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the third-floor staff at Women and Children’s Hospital for the extraordinary care and love they gave to Connie. She spoke often and proudly of how well they treated her, and the family will always be grateful.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 6:00pm to 9:00pm, and her funeral service will take place at Freeman Funeral Home on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 12:00pm, with Pastor Dennie Evans officiating. Honorary pallbearers include Brad Napier, Sonny Smith, Ashlee Dalton, Michael Tomblin, Dakota Dalton and Trey Dalton. Connie will be escorted to her final resting place by her beloved grandson, Trooper Caden Robinson.
