Clovis Manns Obituary

Clovis Manns, 89 of Harts, WV, departed this life on Monday, May 18, 2026 at his residence.


He was born January 21, 1937 in Harts, WV the son of the late Tom Manns and Eva Workman Manns.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose (Frye) Manns; daughter, Mavis Walker; brothers, Arnold John, Billy, Dallas, and Ollie Manns; sisters, Sara Salyers, Nina Jean Vance, Phyllis Tomblin, Violet Wrokman; father-in-law, Garland “Doc” Frye; mother-in-law, Dixie Frye; brother-in-law, Charles “Shorty,” Donnie, and Bobby Joe Frye; and sister-in-law, Brenda Frye.


Clovis was the owner and operator of Manns Lumber Company for 36 years. He was a member of Cole Branch Church for 30 plus years. Clovis enjoyed WORKING and being a boss, but he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved working his sawmill which he last done at the age of 85 years old. He loved farming and took great pride in it. For the past 2 ½ years, he has enjoyed “keeping his pillow warm” and bossing Garland and Regina around.


Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Garland & Regina Manns of Harts, WV and John Paul & Beth Workman of Pritchard, WV, who he loved as a son; grandchildren, Michael & Rebecca Walker, Heather & Casey Farley, Chad & Tonya Manns, all of Harts, WV; Also six special people who called him papaw, Taylor Milum, Ally Thompson, Carson & Cadie Toney, and Tanner & Walker Wiley; great-grandchildren, Daizi & Roze Farley, Clovis & MaKayla Walker, Dixi & Clay Manns, and Ella Jane Miller; a very special nephew, Johnny & Aline Workman; a niece, Delene Swanson who always called to check on him; and his very special caregiver and great friend, Aaron Manns.


Visitation will be on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 11:00am- 1:00pm at Guyan FWB Church.


Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Guyan FWB Church with Pastors Jimmy Carter, John Workman, and Eric “Tubby” Rakes officiating. Burial will follow at Manns Cemetery, Manns Knob, Harts, WV.


Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Walker, Chad Manns, Casey Farley, John Paul Workman, Clovis Walker, and Clay Manns.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Freeman Funeral Home.
