Christie Alice Stevens, 92, of Mill Creek, WV went home to be with the Lord on July 1st, 2022 at Trinity Healthcare, Henlawson, WV.
She was born November 26, 1929 in Peach Creek, WV the daughter of Lucian Emory Chambers and Dicy Fay (White) Chambers.
In addition to her parents was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Fred Stevens; two sons, James Stevens and Ronald Stevens; five brothers and sisters, Roy Chambers, Foster Chambers, Edith Ferrell, Mebel McCloud, Edna Maynard; and one daughter-in-law, Regina Stevens.
Christie was a member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church, a life-long devout Christian. She was faithful in going to church and loved to sing the old hymns. She loved her family and church family. Christie worked for the GC Murphy Co. for 22 years, after she retired she worked at City Florist for another 15 years. On her last day of work she was 76 ½ years old. Christie was proud of her work record of missing only one day in 37 years. She was the most proud of her family. She loved to tell the story of riding a helicopter on her 80th birthday, and a Harley on her 90th birthday, but never drove a car. Christie was a giving person and would have fed the whole world if given the chance.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Bill (Dani) Stevens and Jeff Stevens; eight grandchildren, Ronnie Stevens, Michael Bolyard, MaryAnn Spencer, Lisa Stevens, Kellie Lucas, Kori White, Jeff “JC” Stevens, and Joey Stevens; and eleven great-grandchildren, one brother; Louie Chambers; and one sister, Elsie McNeely. Special thanks to her friend and caregivers Sheila Chandler and Nancy Martinez.
Services will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday July 5th, 2022 at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Roscoe Chafin officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn, Pecks Mill, WV.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Freeman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bill Stevens, Jeff Stevens, Ronnie Stevens, JC Stevens, Joey Stevens, and James Stevens. Honorary Pallbearer will be Michael Bolyard who is currently deployed.
