Carol Sue Rakes, 63 of Ranger, WV, gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at her residence.

She was born April 21, 1961, in West Hamlin, WV, the daughter of the late Andy and Nettie Estep.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Ruth Neace and one brother, Elisha Estep.

Carol enjoyed camping, boating, cruising the Bahamas and riding in the hills. She loved spending time with her family and her sweet little angel poodle, Airy Ella.

Those left to cherish her memory include the love of her life, her husband of 46 years, Danny Rakes; one daughter, DeeAnna (JL) Thompson; one son, Danny Ray (Samantha) Rakes; one sister, Marilyn McCoy; two brothers, Owen (Katherine) Estep and Andy Jr. (Sandy) Estep; four grandchildren, Morgan Rakes, Austin Rakes, Brady Thompson and Isabella Grigg; and one special sister-in-law, Kathy Scott.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Ernie Vance officiating. Burial will follow at the Rakes Family Cemetery, Ranger, WV.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
