Billy Lee Thomas

Billy Lee Thomas, 76, of Holden formerly of Whitman, departed this life and entered the Pearly Gates on, Saturday, October 31, 2020, at 1:18am.

He was born December 10, 1943 in Logan County, WV, a son of the late Henry & Goldie Thomas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Edith Thomas, one daughter, Tammy Lynn Thomas, one sister, Betty Frye and two brothers, Charles Thomas and Ray Kennedy.

Billy was of the Church of God faith. He was a beloved father, papaw and great-grandpa. He enjoyed flowers, singing, and playing the piano. Billy lived in Powell, TN for a short time and made many amazing friends before returning to Whitman, WV. Billy will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, Dreama Thomas (Benny Mullins) of Holden with whom he resided with since April and Sandra (Doug) Simmons of Powell, TN; four grandchildren, Zachary Adkins, Tyler Adkins (Jenna Meade), Autumn (Brandon) Colegrove and Tyler (Ashley) Simmons; two great-grandchildren, Elijah & Lucas Simmons and baby Colegrove due in June 2021; a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends; and his lifelong friend Jerry Adkins of Whitman.

The family would like to thank the staff of Dignity Hospice for their love and support. A special thank you to Joann and Willard Horton.

The family will be receiving friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 with services at 1:00pm at Freeman Funeral Home, with Tom Frye officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Simmons, Zach Adkins, Tyler Adkins, Brandon Colegrove, Doug Simmons, Jerry Adkins and Benny Mullins.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
