Barbara Jean Browne Obituary

Barbara Jean Browne, of Hurricane, WV went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2024.


She was born in Charleston, WV on July 14, 1938, to Philip and Mae Michael.


She graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1956. On June 20, 1963, she married the love of her life Howard Raymond Browne, II. They were married for 59 years. Jean retired from the WVDNR, Division of Water Resources. She was a faithful member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral. She was also an active member of the St. Katherine’s Ladies’ Guild and Shums Il Bir.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jonathan Lee Browne, brother, Philip E. Michael, and multiple beloved aunts.


Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons, Ray (Joy); Phil (Rhonda); John (Jan); her daughter Christina (James) Davis; 9 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; one sister, Connie Choueiri; one brother; John (Tina) Michael; and lots of special nephews and nieces.


Funeral services will be Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. George Orthodox Cathedral with The Very Reverend Paul R. Solberg officiating and The Very Reverend Olof Scott delivering the eulogy.


Visitation will be Friday, April 5, 2024, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Cemetery, Hurricane, WV.


In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George Foundation.
