Arnold Ray Chapman, 80, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Monday, August 19, 2024 at his residence.

 

He was born November 20, 1943 in Logan, WV, a son of the late Burley and Ollie Chapman.

 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Diana Lynn Chapman; two brothers, Robert (Sylvia) Chapman and Ralph Chapman; brother in law, Jim Marrs; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lacey Ernest and Martha Jarrell.

 

Arnold enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his family dinners. He was also a sports fanatic especially when it came to the West Virginia Mountaineers, Cincinnati Reds and his Chapmanville Tigers. Arnold enjoyed working in the community with his church the North Fork Church of Christ where he was a member for over 40 plus years.

 

Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life his wife of 64 years, Alice Marie Jarrell-Chapman; one daughter, Vickie Carol (Randy) Vance; one son, Douglas Ray (Susan) Chapman; two sisters, Patricia Marrs and Wyn (John) Giles; one brother, Joel (Kathy) Chapman; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Heather) Vance, Jacqueline Walsh, Justin (Kara) Vance, and Monica Chapman; and eight great grandchildren, Lilly Vance, Jeremiah Vance, Madeline Vance, Easton Vance, Lexi Vance, Braxton Vance, Liam Vance, Lucy Vance, and Nathan Walsh.

 

Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Ronnie Linville officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Garden, Chapmanville, WV.

 

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 12:00-1:00 pm at the Freeman Funeral Home

 

Pallbearers will be Randy Vance, Jeremy Vance, Justin Vance, Easton Vance, and friends and family.
