Arlie Allen Perkins Jr., 73 of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on May 24, 2025, at Boone Memorial Hospital, Madison, WV.

He was born January 1, 1952, in Madison, WV, the son of the late Arlie Allen Perkins Sr. and Martha Davis Perkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his long time companion, Kimberly Dunlap; maternal grandparents, James and Ora F. Davis; paternal grandparents, Stepson and Nancy Jane Perkins; niece, Maxine Sexton; and brother-in-law, Norman Sloan.

As a child, Arlie attended Foster Grade School before attending Rock Creek Middle School. He then moved to Middletown, OH and worked for Pinkerton Security as a security guard. Later, Arlie worked for Hattie Harlam Nursing Home in Ravenna, OH, before moving back to West Virginia and working for the DOH and retiring from the Long Branch Mining Company.

Arlie loved to fish, hunt, watch NASCAR and take care of his cats. He also loved phone calls from his sister Jane, and Walmart trips with his stepson Charley. Arlie deeply loved his sister, nieces and nephews, and his grandkids.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Jane Sloan; nieces and nephew, Eloise Sexton, Teresa Staats, Dionne Canterbury and Lloyd Sexton; stepchildren, Shawna (George) McNeely, Kayla (Leslie Dale) Hensley, and Charley Dunlap, along with two special people in his life, Tom and Peggy Casey. Arlie was Papaw to six grandchildren: Jordan Aleshire, Zachery McNeely, Braleigh Hensley, Joshua Hensley, Leslie Hensley, and Grayson Hensley. He was also a great uncle to many great nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to Gordon Sexton for all his help and support for Arlies final days.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Freeman Funeral Home with Allen Barker and Frank Ball officiating. Burial will follow at the Davis-Purdue Cemetery, Foster, WV.

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Eloise Sexton, Gordon Sexton, Charley Dunlap, Zachery McNeely, Dale Hensley II and Joshua Hensley.
