Archie Nelson

Archie Nelson, 73 of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on May 1, 2024 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV.

He was born October 6, 1950 in Logan, WV the son of the late William and Sylvia Ramey Nelson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Curtis, Cleveland, Melvin, Frankie and Richard Allen, eight sisters, Nancy, Midge, Brenda, Roxie, Mary, Joan, Janet and Rena and his father and mother-in-law, Clifford & Dolly Adkins.

Archie was a born again Christian. He was a member of the UMWA for 32 years. Archie enjoyed ginseng, gardening working on cars and spending time with family and friends. Archie's grandchildren were the light of his life.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Kristi Nelson; two sons, Archie Nelson Jr and his fiance Misty Hammond and Joseph Nelson and his wife Morgan; one sister, Arnetta Doss; one brother, Billy Nelson; and five grandchildren, Samuel Nelson, Jude Nelson, Titus Nelson, Micah Nelson and Hope Nelson.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, May 6, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Roscoe Chafin officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Monday, May 6, 2024 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
