Ance McCoy

Ance McCoy, 71 of Big Creek, WV departed this life on October 22, 2023 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV.

He was born March 14, 1952 in Logan, WV the son of the late Lewis McCoy and Martha Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Parker J. and Elva Maynard; sisters, Emajean Scarberry, Debbie Eplin, and Sharlene Workman; brothers, Lewis McCoy, Onnie McCoy, Arnold McCoy, Timothy “Skip” McCoy, Philmore McCoy, and Frankie McCoy; and special friend, Cletis White.

Ance was the Jack of all trades, he enjoyed trading, his chickens, fishing, and working on his cars.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ona Mae McCoy; sons, Ance McCoy Jr., Mark J. (Jessica) McCoy, and Michael Vickers; sisters, Delores Sizemore, Shelia (Tom) Christian, and Sherry (Paul) Lackey; brothers, Charley (Bell) McCoy and Monte (Pam) McCoy; grandchildren, Shawnetta (David Lee) Lambert, Nathan (Sabrina) McCoy, Mark “Alex” (Sam) McCoy, Ian McCoy, Skylar McCoy, and Jakob Smith; great-grandchildren, Jordyn Lambert, Paisley Lambert, Easton Lambert, Bailee Lambert, Ryder McCoy, Jensen McCoy, and Lane McCoy; special friends; Mike Whitt, David Eubanks, Willard Tomblin, Josh Conley, and a host of friends, family, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 12:00 to 2:00pm at Freeman Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, October 27, 2023 at the funeral home with Ernie Vance officiating. Burial will follow at the McCoy Cemetery, Big Creek, WV.

Pallbearers will be Michael Vickers, Jakob Smith, Nathan McCoy, David Terry, Mark McCoy, Ance McCoy Jr., Charley McCoy Jr., Arnold McCoy, and Charles Lee Eplin.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
