Alma (Scaggs) Webb Obituary

Alma Scaggs Webb, 92 of Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2025 at Logan Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.


She was born April 8, 1933 in Chapmanville, WV the daughter of the late Joe and Fannie Adams Scaggs.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dexter E. Webb, brothers, Doc, Carl, Emmett and Burl Scaggs and sisters, Sadie Richards and Oma Bailey.


Alma graduated from Chapmanville High School., Morris Harvey College and West Virginia University. She was an educator for Logan County Schools for 35 years and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for over 50 years. Alma was a faithful member of Rocky Hill Freewill Baptist Church until she became ill.


Those left to cherish her memory include one sister, Alice (Jerry) Pack of Logan, WV; nieces, Velma Workman of Chapmanville, Pam (Greg) Porter of Logan and Vanessa (Barry) Bryant of St. Cloud, FL; nephews, Kevin (Robin) Bailey of Foster, and Danny (Jackie) Scaggs of Chapmanville; great niece, Ashley Porter; great nephews, Christopher Workman, Jerry Porter and Gabe Bryant; and a host of family and friends.


The family wishes to thank the staff at Dignity Assisted Living and Dr. Jon Bowen for taking such good care of Alma the past few years. A special thank you to Dr. Kathy Harvey and staff and the 5th Floor nursing staff for their care, understanding, and guidance during Alma's last days in hospice.


Services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, May 9, 2025 at Freeman Funeral Home with Joey Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.


Visitation will be on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 12:00pm until 1:0pm at the funeral home.


Pallbearers will be family and friends.


Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
