Aldan E. Dyer

Aldan E. Dyer, 88, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on May 11, 2020 at the Park View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pikeville, KY. 

He was born July 30, 1931 in Stollings, WV, the son of the late Elmer D. Dyer and Sarah V. Brown-Dyer. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Grover Brown, Nary “Elizabeth” Moore-Brown, Joseph Dyer and Callie Maynard Dyer. 

Aldan was a movie fanatic. An experience with movie houses when he was young led Aldan to become a lifelong aficionado and collector of classic Hollywood movies.  He worked his way from being a projectionist to eventually owning and operating the Chapmanville Drive-in Theater.  His love for the Golden Age of Hollywood was something he shared with family and friends. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Dorothy Thelma Dyer; one daughter, Sherry (Terry) Adams; two sons, Miles (Mindy) Dyer and Alan (Lynn) Dyer; one half sister, Phyllis Bedell; six grandchildren, Terri Adams, Travis (Katie) Adams, Kallie Adams, Kaitlyn Dyer, Jacklyn Dyer and Kimberlyn Dyer; and five great-grandchildren, Benjamin Crouse, Cainan Crouse, Levi Crouse, Aldan Adams, and Arthur Adams. 

Due to the CDC and the State's recent mandate on public gatherings, related to COVID-19, only 25 people or less are permitted at the services. 

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 15, 2020 at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Secrist officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV. 

A walk-through visitation will be on Friday, May 15, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the funeral home. 

Pallbearers will be Alan Dyer, Miles Dyer, Benjamin Crouse, Levi Crouse, Travis Adams and Terry Adams.
