Aaron "Carbide" Wayne Warrix Obituary

Aaron Wayne “Carbide” Warrix, 53 of Chapmanville, WV, passed away on Thursday, April 2nd, 2026, from injuries sustained in a coal mining accident at Marfork Horse Creek Eagle Mine a subsidiary of Alpha Metallurgical Resource in Raleigh County.


He was born March 14, 1973 in South Williamson, KY the son of Ralph Warrix and Debra Marcum.


He was preceded in death by his grandparents.


Aaron was employed as a shuttle car operator at Marfork since August 2020. He was a 1991 graduate of Tolsia High School where he played football. Aaron started his mining career in 2002. He was a dedicated husband, friend and coal miner. He enjoyed his camper, boat, fishing with his father-in-law, Charles Brumfield on Cherokee Lake, watching Steelers Football, riding his side x side, scrolling TikTok and snuggling with his fur baby Dash.


Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life, Julie Brumfield Warrix; one son, Jason Warrix and family; one step-daughter, Kayla Rae Codispoti and family; his mother and father; Debra Marcum and Ralph Warrix; one sister, Sabrina Muncy and family; three brothers, Chris, Joseph and Ralph Warrix and their families. Additionally Aaron leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.


Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the Freeman Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00pm with special speaking by Tom Page and Ray Messer. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV.


Pallbearers will be Jason Warrix, Eric Ellis, Shawn Waller, Cameron Codispoti, Joe Codispoti, Rick Allen, Kris Minney and Andrew Helsel.


Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Brumfield, Mike Minney, Sean Minney, Wesley Cisco and the many co-workers he worked countless hours mining coal with.


Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
