Wandall “Jake” Smith, 79, of Landville, Man, WV, departed this life on Monday, October 29, 2018 at his daughters home.
He was born April 11, 1939 in Leet, WV, the son of the late Gordie “Chuck” & Annie Fry Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four children, Arlene “Cotton” Ward, Carlene Smith, Maxine Smith and Wandall Smith Jr, one brother, Freeman Smith and one sister, Martha Hepler.
Jake enjoyed going to church, building bird houses and mowing grass. He was a member of the Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Brenda (Tom Smith) Kitchen of Whitman, Connie “Pinkie” (David) Spry of Chapmanville and Helen White of Verdunville; one son, Bobby Smith of Verdunville; one brother, Wallace “Rod” Smith of Cleveland, OH; seven grandchildren, Julie Ward, Charli Kitchen, Kayla Vance, Beth Spry, Kori White, Erika Smith and Garett Smith; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Fowler, Nathan Vance and Abby Vance; his best friend, Shirley Shull; the mother of his children, Hazel Smith; and his best of friends, Les Cochran, Don Mills and Bernice Mills.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home with Mike Johnson and James Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 12 – 1 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
