Wanda May Pettit-Butcher, 90, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Logan Regional Medical Center.
She was born January 3, 1928 in Glendale, WV, the daughter of the late Smith & Opal Pettit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett R. Butcher, one brother, Orville Pettit, one daughter, Maxine Raines-Roberts, and three granddaughters, Andrea Raines-Eplin, Brittany Butcher and Christina Butcher.
Wanda spent 33 years working at Logan Regional Medical Center in the Dietary department. She never obtained her drivers license so her family and friends always transported her to and from. Wanda made lifelong friends at LRMC. Her home was the gathering place during the holidays. Wanda loved spending time with her family, it made her heart happy. She also loved to crochet and make flower arrangements. The best apple and pumpkin pies came out of Wanda's kitchen. Going to the beauty shop was one of her favorite things to do, and if you saw her out, she probably had her lipstick on, her nails painted and don't forget her jewelry, especially her clip on earrings.
Those left to cherish her memory include her five children, Richard (Betty) White of Danville, VA, Irene (Orville “Foxy”) Lambert of Chapmanville, Robert (Eddia) Butcher of Chapmanville, Larry (Diane) Butcher of Chapmanville, and Orville Butcher of Chapmanville; a special sister-in-law, Eileen Pettit of Moundsville, WV; and over 50 grand & great grandchildren and a couple great-great grandchildren on the way.
Special thank you to her great granddaughter, Alex Raines for your weekly pampering and all your love shown to her and the staff at Trinity Healthcare of Henlawson for their care and compassion for our Mother and Grandmother.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry “Buddy” Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.
