Roger Dale Burgess

Roger Dale Burgess, 66, of Six Mile Road, Boone, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, WV.

He was born May 1, 1952 in Accoville, WV, a son of the late Jim Jesse Burgess and Polly Ruth Burgess.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Nora Burgess, Carlos Burgess, Frankie Burgess, Lois London, Mary Ann Burgess, and Denny Ray Burgess and his in-laws, Thomas and Elcene Crisp.

Roger enjoyed attending church at Monclo Freewill Baptist Church, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Sunday dinners will never be the same without him cooking fried chicken.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Reneda Burgess of Six Mile; one daughter, Amanda (Joshua) Smith of Hewett; one son, Roger II (Cindy) Burgess of Harts; three sisters, Patty Ferguson of PA, Phyllis (Greg) Tipton of Blair, WV and Janice Gay Booth of Jeffery; four brothers, Ozie (Marie) Burgess of Lyburn, Larry (Patricia) Burgess of Six Mile, Russell (Janet) Burgess of Jeffrey and Millard (Kathy) Burgess of Shady Springs; nine grandchildren, Destany and Hannah Burgess of Mullens; LeAnn, Bradlee and Brayden Burgess of Harts, Jackson, Jacob and Jase Smith of Hewett.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 8, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Lane, Denny Evans and Gary “Sarge” Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 6 – 9 pm at the the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
