Lou Ellen (Vance) May

Lou Ellen (Vance) May, 66, of West Hamlin, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the University of Kentucky Hospital.

She was born February 27, 1953 in West Hamlin, WV, the daughter of the late Columbus Vance and Nancy (Wiley) Vance.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Virgil Eplin, one sister, Mary Elizabeth Rakes, one grandchild, Amanda Pittman, her grandparents, Paris and Mary Ann Vance, Johnny Wiley and Elizabeth Nelson and her in-laws, Hasel and Stella May.

Ellen enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Bobby R. May of West Hamlin; two daughters, Rebecca Ann Eplin of Marlington, WV and Laura Ann (Russell) Pittman of Fort Mill, SC; three sons, Bobby Joe (Tammy) May of Gastonia, NC, Robert Dean (Dewanda) May of West Hamlin; and Steven Lee (Barbara) May of Branchland; two sisters, Geraldine Lambert and Christine Lambert; three brothers, Francis Vance, Dallas Vance and Glen Vance; six grandchildren, Ashley May, Tasha May, Valerie (Josh) Jeffers, Steven Lee Jr (Candace) May, Russell Jr (Lindsey) Pittman and Abigail (Shane) Clagg; and ten great-grandchildren, McKinsey Pittman, Saidee May, Brady Adkins, Lexi Jeffers, Mason Lubinski, Kaden Pittman, Lucas Short, Remi May, Donaven Clagg and Aliyah Adkins.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with Charles Rakes officiating. Burial will follow at the Nester Cemetery, Harts, WV.

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 12 – 1 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
