Lonnie Philmore McCoy

Lonnie Philmore McCoy, 52, of Big Creek, WV, departed this life on Saturday, December 8, 2018 after a lingering illness at Dignity Hospice House, Chapmanville, WV.

He was born August 18, 1966 in Logan, WV, a son of the late Lewis & Martha (Thompson) McCoy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank, Lewis “Bud”, Arnold, Timothy “Skip” and Onnie G. McCoy, and two sisters, Debbie Lynn Epling and Emma Jean Scarberry.

Philmore enjoyed spending time with his family, eating hot dogs, playing daddy to all his baby dolls and watching his idol John Wayne. He was one of the most special brothers we could have ever had, he was our glue after our mom and dad left. Philmore was truly a blessing to all who touched his life.

Those left to cherish his memory include four sisters, Delores Sizemore, Sheila (Tom) Christian, Sherry Burton, Charlene (Dennis) Workman; three brothers, Ance (Ona) McCoy, Charley (Laura) McCoy, and Monty (Pamela) McCoy; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was loved by many.

Services will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home with Joe Pritchard officiating. Burial will follow at the McCoy Cemetery, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 6 – 9 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Lewis Sizemore, Roy Sizemore, Gene Browning, Matt Hensley, Dennis Workman, Rob Workman, Charley McCoy Jr, Mark McCoy, Nathan McCoy, Lowell Dustin Hutchinson, Joe Lewis, JL McCoy, Phillip Wiley Jr Matthew Wiley and Austin Roy Sizemore.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
