Jewell I. (Miller) Curtis

Jewell I. Miller Curtis, 82, of Henlawson, WV formerly of Joliet, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Dignity Hospice House, Chapmanville, WV after a prolonged illness.
She was born August 30, 1936 in Low Gap, WV, the daughter of the late Albert Burtis Miller & Ida Pearl Pauley Miller, and step-father Arnold W. Miller.
In addition to her parents and step-father she was preceded in death her husband of 38 years, Donald Curtis, two sons, Samuel Dean Curtis and Bobby Curtis, two brothers, Donald Ray Miller and Denzil Alvin Miller “Santa Claus” and one sister-in-law, Gwen Miller.
Jewell was a member of the Faith Baptist Temple in Stollings, WV.  She devoted her  life to serving the Lord.  Jewell found great joy spending time with her family and had a great passion for shopping, she was known for her quick wit, determination and generosity.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Jody (Mike) Marcum; five siblings, Gene (Ellen) Miller of Channahon, IL, Larry (Wanda) Miller of Huntington, WV, Lana (Richard) Cyfers of Ranger, WV, Arnold G. Miller of Henlawson, WV, and Lavon (Rick) Thompson of Holden, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family would like to thank Pastor Shane Bryant and her church family, Dr. Kathy Harvey and staff at Dignity Hospice House, the staff at Logan Regional Medical Center, the staff of Boone Memorial HomeCare, Dr. Radha Kukkillaya and Nurse Practioner Summer New. The family also thanks all those who visited, sent their prayers and supported Jewell.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Bryant and Roger Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 6 – 9 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Richard Cyfers II, Christopher Thompson, Devin Cyfers, Michael Toth and additional family, Logan Hunter and Russell Marcum.
Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
