Jerry Edward May

Jerry Edward May, 73, of Godby Heights, Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at his residence.

He was born April 21, 1945 in Man, WV a son of the late James and Athaleen May.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Edward May Jr and James David May and three grandchildren, Stephanie and Tiffany May and Angel Combs.

Jerry enjoyed working on cars and houses and loved spending time with his family, friends and his dog Peaches. He was a retired coal miner.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Opal Louise May of Godby Heights; two daughters, Tina & Timothy Morgan of Godby Heights and Ladonna & Kevin Combs of Harts; one son, Jeff May of Godby Heights; three sisters, Joan & Kenny Hatton, Melissa & Tim Jarrell and Brenda & Fred Hale; grandchildren, James, Jeffery, Joshua, Rena and Jerry E. II May, Megan Savage, Abby, Keisha, and Jerri Morgan, Hunter and Adrianna Frye, Kaylee & Dakota Adkins, Kevin, Opal, Dougie, and Colt Combs; great-grandchildren, Jaden Muncy, Maryanne and Skylar May, and Mallory Adkins; his special friends, Alan Cummings, Dora Jane Morgan, Cindy Disanto, Eric Ferguson and Michael Evans; his dog Peaches; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 11, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rocky Chafin officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 6 – 9 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Dingess, Kenny Hatton, Lee Hatton, Devin Vance, Kevin Combs II, Dougie Combs III, Jimmy May and Dakota Adkins.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
