James E. “Jimmy” Hager, 81, of Danville, WV formerly of Blair, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 3, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends at his home.
He was born July 5, 1936 in Monclo, WV a son of the late Homer & Almeda Hager.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Oudia “Judy” Hager, second wife, Jenny Frye Hager and one sister, Pearl Hager Adkins.
Jimmy was a servant of the Lord since 1960, spreading the gospel through music and daily life. He was a member of The Hager Family Gospel Singers beginning in 1960 with his parents, sister and wife, he was the last surviving orginal member.
Those left to cherish his memory include one sister, Virginia Gay Cook of Ethel; daughters, Janie (J.K.) Gillman of Camp Creek, Darlene Maynard of Chesapeake, Oh, and Priscilla Whitt of Danville; one son, John “Eddie” (Stella) Hager of Turtle Creek; twelve grandchildren, Robby White, Phillip White, Jolena Fowler, Tommy McNeely, Dolly Southers, James Hager, John Hager, Danielle Everest, Timmy Whitt, Tanner Whitt, Misty Wyndham, and Susie Gillman; twenty-six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ugeal Perry; special uncle, Casey “Junior” Adkins of Lundale; special nephews, Eugene Adkins, who was like a son, and Ronnie Adkins; special niece, Viola Mullins; and a host of family and friends.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Hill Top Chapel Church at Big Ugly, WV with Rev. Bobby Adkins and Rev. Jeff Mosteller officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.
Friends may call Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm at the church.
Pallbearers will be Robbie White, P.J. White, James Hager, John Hager, Timothy Whitt, and Tanner Whitt.
Honorary pallbearer will be Eric Fowler.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Freeman Funeral Home to help with funeral arrangements.
