James Walter Eldridge Sr, 83, of Big Ugly, Harts, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at his residence.
He was born May 15, 1936 in Logan, WV, a son of the late Boyd and Elizabeth Prince Eldridge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William “Charlie”, Eldon “Doe” and Clay Eldridge and one sister, Sadie Alice Hill.
James loved to play his guitar and dance. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch socializing.
Those left to cherish his memory include the mother of his children, Dorothy “Sue” Jackson of Big Ugly, WV; four sons, James Jr of Big Ugly, WV, Johnny (Michelle) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jeffery (Stacy) of Alum Creek, WV and Jason Eldridge of Chapmanville; one sister, Maxine Eldridge Vandergriff of Virginia; nine grandchildren, Dakota and Austin Eldridge of Washington, Josh, Jordan and Samantha Eldridge of Big Ugly, WV, Thorne and Brandon of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jillian and Madeline of Alum Creek, WV; one great grandchild, Sadie Eldridge of Big Ugly, WV; two special girls that brought him coffee and lots of joy, Daizi and Roze Farley; and a very special niece, Jackie Mann, that has taken care of him for the last year and a half. She always had a smile for him and he loved her very much.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with Paul Eldridge officiating. Burial will follow at Estep Branch Cemetery, Big Ugly, WV.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be his four sons, James, Johnny, Jeffery, and Jason.
Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
