Franklin D. Hensley, 85, of Buckfork of Harts, departed this life on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at his residence.
He was born August 17, 1933 in Shively, WV, a son of the late James Hensley Sr. and Lucinda (Bryant) Hensley.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Hensley; ten brothers, Stonewall, Harvey, Lewis, James Jr., Major, George, Don, Albert, Jesse and Charley; seven sisters, Ferbie Farley, Betty Akers, Gladys Hensley, Gracie Tomblin, Rosa Ann (Annie) Hensley, Cori Bryant and Lizzie Hensley; his father and mother-in-law, Manasses Hensley Sr. and Brooke (Mullins) Hensley.
Franklin worked for Dehue Coal Company, was a member of the UMWA and a member of the White Oak Church of Christ for 25 years. He enjoyed working in his garden, raising goats, horses, chickens, coon hunting and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and talking about the good ole days.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Thelma (Jessie) Adams and Marie (William) Adams both from Buckfork of Harts; one sister, Rosie Akers of Columbus, OH; one brother, John Hensley of Chapmanville; four grandchildren, Sara (Charles) Belcher of TN, Andrew (Valerie) Adams of Chapmanville, Zachary Adams and Jessica (Trevor) Newton both of Buckfork of Harts; three great grandchildren, Noah Belcher of TN, Heidi and Silas Adams both of Chapmanville; and one special nephew, David (Soledad) Farley of Tucson, AZ and a special thanks to Chapmanville Dignity Hospice.
Services will be held at 2.00pm, Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the White Oak Church of Christ with Rev. Manasses Hensley Jr., Rev. Daniel Hensley and Rev. Jerry Allen Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Hensley Family Cemetery, Buckfork, Harts.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 6:00pm to 12:00am at the White Oak Church of Christ.
Pallbearers will be Andrew, Zachary, Charles, Daniel, Kelvin, Jacob and Ben
