Billy Ray Black, 78, of Harts, WV, departed this life on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at his daughters residence, in Ona, WV.
He was born October 22, 1940 in Logan, WV, a son of the late Earl and Cora (Brumfield) Black.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Nola Mae Carter, three brothers, Bobby Black, Blaine Black and Abe Markel and the mother of his children, Eva Rakes.
Ray enjoyed spending time with his family and going to church.
Those left to cherish his memory include five daughters, Lillie “Pee-Wee” Black of Bulls Gap, TN, Lolie Maynard of Dry Branch, Mollie (James) Perry of Ona, WV, Helen (Ralph) Ballard of Bulls Gap, TN and Frances (Ricky) Maynard; three sons, Earl Black, John (Mendy) Black both of Harts and Russell (Becky) Black of Rogersville, TN; sixteen grandchildren, Vivian, JR, Jessica, Rhonda, James, Tommy, Ashley, Joe, Jonathon, Grace, Catherine, Matt, Georgia, Payton, Joshie and Jay; and sixteen great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with Michael Browning officiating. Burial will follow at the Black Cemetery, Cole Branch, Harts, WV.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 29, 2019 from 6 – 9 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Ballard, Earl Black, Jr Nelson, James Perry, Ricky Maynard and Jonathon Carter.
Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
