Betty Marie Adkins

Betty Marie Adkins, 83, of Harts, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at her residence.

She was born November 17, 1935 in Chapmanville, WV, the daughter of the late Lewis Walton and Iva Maude Chapman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her grandparents, John and Mellissa Chapman and Aaron and Cora Adkins, husband Don Adkins, daughter, Cindy Adkins, sisters, Corena McCann, Opal Jean Mannering, Lucille Davidson, Jewell Sperry and Zella Zornes, brothers, Kenneth Lee Chapman, Lewis Walton Chapman, and Freddie Chapman, and her in-laws, Millard and Myrtle Adkins.

Betty enjoyed going to church, witnessing for the Lord, spending time with her children and sending cards. She was a charter member of Chapman Memorial Freewill Baptist Church Tabernacle.

Those left to cherish her memory include four daughters, Glenna Searles (Randy) of Jackson, OH, Deborah Spencer (Terry) of Alum Creek, Jennifer Jewell Collins (Mike) of Chapmanville and Crystal Dalton (Robbie) of Harts; one son, Don M. Adkins (Dana) of Buckhannon, WV; one sister, Mellissa Adkins (Roy); one brother, Gary R. Chapman; seventeen grandchildren, Will Pardue, John Dingess, Bobby Dingess, Kim Hager, Beverly Hager, Michael Hager, Bella Grace Collins, Keegan Adkins, Faith Adkins, Gabrielle Hill, Kira Hill, Brady Dalton, Olivia Dalton, Nick Zickefoose, Kara Zickefoose, Brant Mullins and Brianna Smith; sixteen great-grandchildren, Emma, Jayden, Logan, Paige, Braxton, Devon, Rowan, Will, Isabelle, Aiden, Gavin, Allie, Chase, Paxton, Owen and Lakyn; life long friend and cousin, Phyllis (Gartin) Tomblin; and her special friends, Don & Linda Adams and Eunice Lambert.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the Chapman Memorial Tabernacle with Buddy Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at the Chapman Cemetery, Harts, WV.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 11:00 pm at the church.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and family.
