Allen Taylor Workman, 77, departed this life on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at his home in South Charleston, West Virginia surrounded by loved ones.
He was born July 12, 1941 a son of the late Allen and Ruby Workman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lou Ann Workman, two sisters, Jean Boytek, and Sue Hamm, and two brothers, Linzie Brown and Bob Brown.
Allen was ready to meet with the good Lord and be reunited with the love of his life Lou Ann Workman. He graduated from Man High School in 1959. Allen was in the Army as a tank mechanic and served time overseas in Germany. He worked many years as a coal miner and retired as the President of Dal-Tex Coal Corporation in 1996. Allen loved spending time with his family, golfing and fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory include three sons, Rick (Helen) Workman of Virginia, Teddy (Lesa) Workman of Logan, and Cameron (Aja) Workman of Elkview; one sister, Judy Browning-Riggs of North Myrtle Beach; four grandchildren, Elliott (Terry) Workman of Madison, Ross (Hillary) Workman of Winfield, Riki Workman of Morgantown and Zida Workman of Elkview.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Freeman Funeral Home with Joe Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.
Friends may call Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 12:00 – 2 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ross Workman, Terry Baldwin, Joey Browning, Shane Porter, Donald Kennedy and Keith Duncan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chipper Porter, Randy Brown, Tony Boytek, Jake Boytek and Brandon Duncan.
Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
