Alton Ray Carter, 66 of Delbarton, WV, departed this life on April 19, 2024 at his residence.
He was born September 7, 1957 in Logan, WV the son of the late Robert and Tishie Carter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jessie Marie Carter, two grandchildren, Eddie Bartram and Brayden Scott Manns, his grandparents, Peter & Betty Hensley Carter and Lloyd & Allie Pridemore Bryant, three sisters, Yvette McFadden, Mabel Ferrell and Sadie White, and one brother, Lester Roy Carter.
Alton loved reading his bible, digging ginseng, cutting trees, writing poems and he loved his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Amanda Carter; three sons, Alton Michael Carter (Brandy), Alton Ray “Birdie” Carter II (Kayla) and Devon Carter; nine grandchildren, Shawn Bartram (Ariel), Ashley Evans (Seante), Tia Manns (Billy), Baylon Carter (Miranda), Isaac Carter (Melissa, Traven Carter, Carson Carter, Matthew Carter and Riley Carter; ten great grandchildren, Zayne, Eli and Waylon Bartram, Grayson Vance, Honesty Evans, Bentlee and Braylee Manns, Cylas, Charlie and Ellie Carter; five sisters, Betty Moore, Ida Walls (Roger), Martha Frye (Roger), Debbie Dingess (Stacy) and Patricia Lee (Clarence); and three brothers, Billy Carter, Bobby Carter (Donna) and Alvin Carter.
Services will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, April 22, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Roger Frye officiating. Burial will follow at the Hall Cemetery, Harts, WV.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 22, 2024 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers are Alton Michael Carter, Devon Carter and Billy Manns.
