Wanda Sue (Lucas) Collins

Wanda Sue (Lucas) Collins, 65, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Sunday, September 19, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

She was born October 4, 1950 in Man, WV, the daughter of the late Augustus Edward and Rhoda Lee (Gartin) Lucas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Jeannette Loden, Irene Compton, Marlene Bradshaw, Lucille Lauderback, two brothers, Clyde and Eugene Lucas, one nephew, four brothers-in-law, James Loden whom she referred to as her second dad, Billy Compton, Willie Hicks, and William (Junior) Moore, and her father and mother-in-law, Ab & Eunice (Collins) Staley.

Wanda loved all babies and we named her “the baby snatcher”. She had the touch. Wanda loved to craft and quilt and she loved helping her nieces, nephews and any child when possible. She loved the Lord and attending church when possible. Wanda always loved to laugh, travel and spend time with her family whom she loved dearly.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 40 years, Denney Collins; she was a mother to many little girls and boys. She loved all her nieces and nephews beyond measure; two sisters, Ruby Geraldine Moore of Portage, IN and Juanita & Gary Topping of Huntington; three sisters-in-law, Grace Lucas, Sue Lucas and Glenda Kelley; one very special friend, Narlene Mullins; one very special person she referred to as her second dad, Shelton Topping; one very special little niece she and Denny babysat, Khloe; and her extended family and church family.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 23, 2016 at Freeman Funeral Home with Gary Topping and Cliff Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 6 – 9 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Adams, Brandon Adams, Jeffrey Topping, Aaron Topping and Daniel Topping.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Kelley and Bill Topping.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
