Shirley Gae Scarberry

Shirley Gae Scarberry, 80, of Striker, Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at her residence.

She was born August 6, 1937 in Logan, WV, a daughter of the late Clark and Betha Bell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clyde Scarberry Sr and three brothers, Ronald, Carlos and Jerry Bell.

Shirley enjoyed singing, coloring, and sitting on her front porch. She loved spending time with her family. Shirley was a retired custodian at Chapmanville High School where she worked for 26 years, and touched many lives. She attended many churches including Piney Community Church, Chapmanville United Baptist and Rocky Hill Freewill Baptist. Shirley was loved by many.

Those left to cherish her memory include her six children, Berel (Carolyn) Scarberry, Rosa (Doug) Williamson, Dencil (Regina) Scarberry, Billie Jo Scarberry, Clyde Jr (Jeannie) Scarberry, and Carolyn (Steve) Bradbury all of Chapmanville; three sisters, Gloria Jeter, Joann Race and Janice Parks; sixteen grandchildren, Lawrence (Candice) Scarberry, Richard Scarberry, Leah (Caine) Dials, Bret (Leslie) Williamson, Jennifer (Tony) Bshara, Gabriel (Sabrina) Scarberry, Deidre Scarberry, Amanda Scarberry “Mamaw's good girl”, Lisa Scarberry, Lynn Scarberry, Nicole Scarberry, Elijah Scarberry, Arthur Scarberry, Becky Scarberry, Larry (Ashley) Wiggins, Heather Wiggins, and Holly Wiggins; twenty one great-grandchildren, Lexi, Brooklyn and Hannah Scarberry, Hailey, and Emma Dials, Ciara Bshara, Seth and Emily Williamson, Analydia, Eliana, Jacob, Mia and Christopher Scarberry, Michael & Jaxon Browning, Trinity and Aleaha Perry, Jazlynn and Alisa Scarberry and Raelynn and Airana Wiggins; her best friend Luv Setizer; and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Freeman Funeral Home with Kenny Kirk officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 6 – 9 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
