Samuel “Sambo” McCoy, 56, of Dingess, WV, departed this life on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Dingess, WV.
He was born September 4, 1960 in Holden, WV a son of the late Donald McCoy and Mary Dalton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mark & Cora McCoy and Marion & Luflurice Hall, one sister, Dorothy, two brothers, Elmer and Hubert, one brother-in-law, Benny Martinez and his mother-in-law, Helen Childers.
Sambo enjoyed playing music for his family and friends and loved playing with his grandson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Leona McCoy; one daughter, Shantana McCoy (Eric Pack); one son, Samuel McCoy II; five sisters, Alice Martinez, Lillie (Rufus) Wallace, Clair Sue (Fred) Linkswelier and Gladys (Dallas) Adkins; three brothers, Wade (Mary) McCoy, Roy McCoy and David McCoy; one grandson, Adam Wayne Canterbury; father-in-law, Bradley Dotson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the East Fork Church of God at Dingess, WV with Greg Taylor and Roy Browning officiating. Burial will follow at the McCoy Cemetery at Dingess.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from 6 pm until the time of the funeral on Wednesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Philip Martinez, Patrick Marcum, Alex Williams, Shane Dempsey, Eric Pack, Luke Wallace, Franklin Hall and Harley Ray Adkins.
Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
