Okey "Talmy" Talmadge Kirk

Okey Talmadge Kirk, 83, of Harts, WV, departed this life on Friday, August 19, 2016 at his residence.

He was born September 16, 1932 in Harts, WV a son of the late Lucian & Myrtle (Farley) Kirk.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin & Susan Kirk, and Will & Martha Farley, two brothers, Robert and Gene, two sisters, Avonelle Moore and Rhonda Joy Kirk, one daughter-in-law, Bertha Charrell Kirk, two brothers-in-law, Roger Linkous and Forest Moore, one sister-in-law, Deloris Kirk and his father and mother-in-law, Guy & Ruby Moore.

Talmy was a devoted member, deacon and choir leader at Piney Community church for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, setting on the front porch with his loving wife Wanda, coon hunting, riding his kubota and plowing in his garden with his mule Ol' Bob.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 60 years, Wanda Kirk of Harts; three daughters, Peggy (James) Bowers, Darlene (Tommy) Maynard both of Harts and Lisa (Gordon) Petry of Barboursville; three sons, Kenny Kirk, Herman (Lisa Ann) Kirk and Mark (Tonya) Kirk all of Harts; three sisters, Geri (John) Adams of Winfield, Clarice Linkous of Myrtle Beach, SC, Francis (Odie) Tomblin of Harts; one special sister-in-law, Carolyn Kirk; five brothers, Tracy (Jean) of Rolesville, NC, Bill (Janice) of Chapmanville, Ralph (Reda) of Salt Rock, Roger (Sandra) and Doug (Avanell) all of Harts; twelve grandchildren, Andy (Vanessa) Kirk, Andrea (Allen) Raines, Jarred Kirk, Jimbob (Bridgette) Bowers, Ashley (Dustin) Bryant, Adam (Chassity) Kirk, Joshua (Tiffany) Kirk, Andrew, and Austin Petry, Jessica (Cole) Bell, McKinzie Maynard and Barry Workman; nine great-grandchildren, Salena, Sidney, Brady, Ayden, Kyleigh, Rylan, Reagan, Tommy Grayson and Kelton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Dr. James Walker and his staff at BMH Medical Center.

Services will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Freeman Funeral Home with Manasses Hensley Jr and Kenny Kirk officiating. Burial will follow at Lucian & Myrtle Kirk Family Cemetery, Piney Fork Road, Harts, WV.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 6 – 9 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Amos Hall, Jennings Adkins and Richard Adkins.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
