Michael Harvey Ghiz, 69, formerly from Charleston WV, died on Monday October 2nd at his home in Cedar Lake IN. Mike was a 1966 class member of Charleston High School, and a United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Descent of the Holy Spirit Orthodox Church in Schererville IN.

Mike was an avid reader and history buff who loved to play golf. He was a charming raconteur and had many friends, both old and new. He was the founder of Mountaineer Home Improvement Inc., in Charleston WV, and The Kitchen Saver Inc., in Cedar Lake IN.

Born February 26th, 1948 in Logan WV, he was preceded in death by his parents Michael Harvey Ghiz and Rose Ward Ghiz, and sister Monette Woolcock. He is survived by his brother Harvey Ghiz of Hurricane WV, and sister Gerry Ghiz of Thompsons Station TN.

The visitation will be Monday October 9th, from 6-8 p.m. at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, with Trisagion Prayers at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at St. George Orthodox Cathedral Tuesday October 10th at 11 a.m., with a second visitation beforehand at 10 a.m. Reverend Father Christopher Eid and The Very Reverend Father Olof Scott will officiate. The burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill WV.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the St. George Foundation, PO Box 2044, Charleston WV, 25327, in memory of Michael.
