Marlene (Boggs, Rakes) Gilliam, 60, of Ranger, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV.

She was born January 9, 1957 in Logan, WV, the daughter of the late George Elmer Boggs and Bessie Marie Frye.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Gilliam, one daughter, Jessica Dawn Rakes and step-son, Enos Allen Rakes.

Marlene enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Tina Marie Rakes, and Rebecca Ann Rakes (Gordon David Thompson); one step-daughter, Lola Mae Rakes; one step-son, Robert Mitchell Rakes; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel Blake Thompson, Johnathan Troy Thompson, Jeremy Collins, Bessie Rakes, Charlotte Rakes, Samantha Rakes and Shadow Rakes; two great-grandchildren, Cohner Mullins and Raylee Jo Rakes; father of her children, Enos Rakes; and her close friend, Evert Estep.

Services will be held at a later date.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
